Day 1: Cloud Foundations and Core Services
Part I: Cloud Architecture Foundations
- Core cloud architecture principles and non-functional requirements (availability, scalability, security, performance)
- Cloud adoption models and associated trade-offs: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and shared responsibility models
- Key components of Azure architecture: Regions, Resource Groups, and Resources
- Designing mission-critical architectures and defining disaster recovery targets (RTO, RPO)
Part II: Core Cloud Services
- Storage and data fundamentals: Azure Table Storage and Azure Cosmos DB
- Compute and containerization platforms: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Registry (ACR)
- Relational data management and messaging: Azure SQL Database and Azure Service Bus
- Practical exercises for each service: configuring, deploying, and evaluating them based on availability, performance, security, and pricing
- Implementing Infrastructure as Code with Bicep to ensure reproducible environments
Day 2: Architectural Leadership and Clean Architecture
Part III: The Architect
- Defining software architecture and exploring different architectural viewpoints
- Roles, responsibilities, and ownership of decisions in a software architect position
- Specifying and communicating architecture to both technical and business stakeholders
- A practical roadmap for becoming an effective software architect

- Choosing the appropriate cloud services for monolith modernization, weighing the pros and cons
- Practical lab: building and deploying a Clean Architecture solution on Azure using .NET
Day 3: Domain-Driven and Distributed Architectures
Part V: DDD, CQRS, and Event Sourcing
- Domain-Driven Design fundamentals: defining domain boundaries, ubiquitous language, and model-driven design
- Concepts of CQRS and Event Sourcing for managing complex, evolving business domains
- Architectural patterns commonly used in DDD-based cloud solutions
- Practical lab: applying Event Sourcing as a requirement-driven design technique, moving from requirements to events, aggregates, and event flows
Part VI: Microservices
- Principles of microservices architecture and trade-offs in distributed systems
- Selecting cloud services for microservices-based solutions, considering advantages and disadvantages
- Synchronous and asynchronous communication styles in microservices, including reliability patterns like circuit breakers and resiliency strategies
- Microservices testability and CI/CD: contract testing, defining integration test boundaries, automated quality gates, and deployment confidence
- Practical lab: building and deploying microservices on Azure using .NET
Requirements
- Proficiency in an advanced programming language, such as C# or Java
- Fundamental understanding of the architectural styles covered in the course
- Basic experience working with cloud-based services
- A minimum of five years in software engineering roles
