In internal training programs, the process typically begins with a proficiency assessment. However, since artificial intelligence is still a relatively new field for most organizations, this approach often yields meaningless results, as a measurable baseline of knowledge rarely exists.

Instead, NobleProg utilizes its globally applied Pre-Training Expectations Survey. In this survey, participants introduce themselves and their roles within the company, followed by stating their expectations for the training. This allows the instructor to tailor the content to these expectations and address any misconceptions during the session.

This approach fosters participant ownership of the training. It also facilitates the training's direct contribution to business processes.

Proficiency tests also carry an operational burden. Administering, collecting, and reporting on lengthy tests is a significant workload for L&D teams amid the pace of daily operations.

The tip of the iceberg is the measurement tool itself. Developing a reliable inventory or scale is a complex academic process. To ensure the instrument produces consistent and generalizable results, it must undergo cross-validation and rigorous scientific validation steps.

Executing this process for an internal training program is not practical. Furthermore, because testing conditions cannot be standardized, the results often lack the referential reliability needed for meaningful assessment.

Consequently, rather than shifting measurement to the pre-training phase, NobleProg recommends process-based measurement following the training, focusing on satisfaction and usage retention (retention) within the organization.

This measurement can be conducted using usage data obtained via dashboards or APIs provided by AI tools. The significance of this data is interpreted by comparing it against the team's progress in their own AI usage roadmaps. Since pre-training usage data can also be retrieved from the same dashboards, it establishes a natural baseline without the need for a separate proficiency test.
