This course provides a foundational understanding of the core components of Power Virtual Agents, Power Automate, and Power Apps, alongside a high-level overview of Power BI. The curriculum is centered around a real-world workflow I previously handled manually for a former employer. We will construct a Power App using Microsoft Power Apps to monitor tasks related to newly built homes, with data stored on SharePoint for simplicity. Additionally, we will leverage Power Virtual Agents to demonstrate how users can enable bots within Microsoft Teams to guide them to documents that might be scattered across various SharePoint sites, such as loan agreements, budgets, and sales contracts (as illustrated in our example). These bots offer significant value for HR and IT departments in managing repetitive inquiries. Furthermore, the course covers configuring simple flows in Power Automate to archive attachments from specific senders (in our scenario, inspection reports organized by a bank) and other straightforward flows that save data from Microsoft Forms back to SharePoint. We will also establish fully automated processes using the approvals app within Microsoft Teams. Upon completing the app, bot, and flow, the final phase involves creating a straightforward Power BI report. We will use Power Automate to dispatch a snapshot of the table containing the most recently completed tasks every two weeks to a designated recipient (the bank in this example). This notification will request a drawdown, including the dates the tasks were finished and their associated budget amounts—all information gathered within the app. Given the high-level nature of this course, I recommend learners use ChatGPT for more complex technical aspects, such as coding or formulas in Power Apps. However, this topic is also addressed within the course, where I demonstrate best practices for utilizing ChatGPT to assist with Power Apps formulas.
